Thursday Evening Poetry Hour

All the Great Poets
by Jody Noëlle Coughlin

All the great poets know one thing,
they know they don't know anything.
All great poets know they will fade
like a flower.
All great poets know they will be used-up
like the life of the green-leafed-tree.
But the sugar-water goes down.
It trickles down down down.
A moment of beauty is all it takes
 to make life so sweet.
All the great poets know time is fleeting.
With hearts still beating
They go down dreaming.
And they write it down.
They write it down down down.
They write it down.
All the great poets write it down.
